Idea #7: Pussy!

This is an idea that hatched when I was listening to NPR interview urban youth about the new, hip lexicon that oldsters don’t understand. Back then it was words like “phat” and “bad”. These things change over so quickly that it’s best not to use any new words that came from youth culture for fear that they may already be out of date and expose you as a youth poser.

So I was listening to NPR and decided that it wouldn’t be too hard to get some friends to propagate made-up expressions and convince the NPR reporters that they were genuine. My first choice is to use the word pussy as a compliment, as in “That band is SO PUSSY, they rock, dude!” I think it would be nice to reverse the negative usage of “pussy” and turn it into a super-cool word, and I think it would be pretty easy to do.

Here’s how you can help:

Start using “pussy,” especially on line in trendy chat settings, as the new “cool”. After a month or so, when we have planted it in various fashionable cyber locations, one of us will call an NPR style reporter and mention this new word. Maybe sound like an angry adult. Point the reporter to a fictitious urban youth club and give them one of our phone numbers to call for an interview.

Once NPR reports it, there will be various reactions and, if all goes according to plan, enough stodgy grown-ups will take offense that actual young people will start using the word first for rebellion and then because they’ve heard other people they know use it.

There’s more pussy under this flower:
